Scientific Name: Hydrobates castro

IUCN Red List: Least Concern (for species as a whole – Hawaii Distinct Population Segment listed as Endangered by USFWS)

Distribution: Breeds on islands of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, ranging widely at sea. In the United States, breeds only in the Hawaiian Islands.  Genetic studies have shown that Hawaiian birds are genetically distinct from other global populations.
