Distribution: Widespread in the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic oceans, where it generally breeds on small islands. The largest known colony is found on Nihoa in Papahānaumokuākea (the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands), mainly restricted to offshore islets in Main Hawaiian Islands.
