Distribution: Hawaiian endemic.  Breeds on the islands of Kauaʻi, Maui, Lāna‘i and Hawai‘i Island, and historically on O‘ahu and Moloka‘i.

ARC focus: Colony management, trend monitoring, powerline strike and minimization, telemetry, social attraction

Project sites: Pihea, North Bog, Pōhākea, Hanakāpīʻai and Hanakoa (all in Hono O Nā Pali Natural Area Reserve), Upper Limahuli Preserve, Upper Manoa and Honopū¹ - and two predator-proof fence enclosures; in Pōhākea (Pōhākea PF) and Honopū (Honopū PF)
