IUCN Red List: Near Threatened

Distribution: North Pacific Ocean, with the vast majority of the population breeding in the Hawaiian Islands, especially Papahānaumokuākea (the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands). Also breeds in the Bonin Islands of Japan and islands off Mexico’s western coast. Ranges widely at sea north to Alaska and Russia.
