Hawaiʻi Projects

Within the Hawaiian Islands, we work on a range of conservation projects – particularly related to endangered seabird monitoring and management. Much of our work is concentrated on the island of Kauaʻi, the northern-most island of the Main Hawaiian Islands.

Our 18 member team is organized around two primary focal areas:

Additional projects on Kauaʻi include:

  • We also provide support for seabird monitoring and tracking projects on the island of Lānaʻi and Hawaiʻi

  • Our Executive Director represent Pacific Birds Habitat Joint Venture in Hawaiʻi

  • We have ongoing contracts with the Department of Defense for seabird monitoring and protection

Our publications page provides links to all of our scientific papers, reports and more.  Some of our recent publications include:

  • “Differences in breeding phenology between two geographically separated populations of the ʻuaʻu (Hawaiian Petrel Pterodroma sandwichensis)” published in Bird Conservation International. - view publication
